The Village of Walberton

Walberton is an unspoilt Sussex village characterised by the use of local flints in many of the old buildings that line the village street. The village has two Conservation Areas and many listed buildings. Our cottages, South Lodge and Lion House are both designated as buildngs of local character.

Village Holidays is a family business with over 25 years experience offering high quality good value accommodation. Located in the centre of Walberton's Conservation Area, our adjacent cottages range from 2 to 4 bedrooms and are rated 4 star by VisitEngland. Up to 2 dogs are accepted in all our properties.

Things to do: visit the village pond, take some bread to feed the ducks. The village has 2 village greens, a large football/cricket pitch and special surfaced play area for the very young, there is plenty of room for the more energetic to run around.

A leisurely walk round the fields to the south of the village takes you through the church out into farmland and to a little copse. From here you see lovely views to the South Downs and the folly at Slindon. Out on the farm you will see our horses grasing, Merlin the grey and the brown one is Smartie. The footpath goes through their field, round past the old dovecot (a listed building) and back into the village via Dairy Lane.

Walberton also has a golf course with fabulous views and a footpath takes you from the end of the village to the Binsted valley and round back into the village center via the Black Horse pub.

A very short drive will bring you to the National Trust woodland at Slindon and South Downs AONB just north of Walberton. If you bring bikes a tunnel under the A27 gives you access to the National Trust land and the South Downs without using your car. If you park here it is a way into the woods without driving over the A27.
